Game of Thrones: The battle of Winterfell rages ... We debrief episode 3

The king of the night is at the gates of Winterfell, this time, there are no more issues. In its first minutes, the episode plunges us directly into the heart of the action. The time for songs and reunions has passed, time is at war. The longest episode so far, The Battle of Winterfell is undoubtedly the most anticipated chapter of the series.

*** SPOILERS ON EPISODE 3 OF SEASON 8 ***

To arms ...

They arrive at a muffled pace, in total darkness only one thing remains, the sound of death. The first to pay for this army are the Dothrakhis. The people of Khal Drogo, dreaded in all Westeros, are no match for the undead of the king of the night. The fiery swords provided by the red witch will not be enough to defeat the white walkers. Little talkative, the episode gives us time to breathe, a few minutes before we drink the scene retina retribution, blood baths and fire breakers. Soon, the army of the living is in bad shape. The immaculate ones are decimated and the dead enter the enclosure of the castle. No music or dialogue, just the sound of the dead who destroy everything in their path. If the scenes are dark, sometimes too much, the work on sound projects us into the epicenter of action. Footsteps, breaths and cries rhythm the action in a masterful way. The battle in the open air is confined within the walls of the castle. The bloody face, Arya runs to escape the white walkers. While she seems doomed, Beric Dondarrion sacrifices himself to save the young warrior. He has fulfilled his destiny, Thoros of Myr said, there will be no resurrection this time.

"What is dead may never die"

The losses were not very heavy on the side of the main characters and the Battle of Winterfell was less deadly than expected. After receiving his redemption, Theon sacrifices himself to save Bran from the King of the Night. The character offers a nice farewell to the series, where is his place. With his family, whom he often abused, the protagonist bows out. In a last heroic gesture, he passes away, before the wet eyes of the spectators. "What is dead can not die. "
Theon is not the only one to have left the skin since Edd Tollett also passes the weapon to the left, saving Sam from certain death. The companion of the Night Guard, will return later, in the dead, before finally disappearing. The young Lyanna Mormont, who was to make only one appearance in the series, plays an important role in the battle of Winterfell and will not spend the night. The little girl is right for the blue-eyed giant, she plants her dagger in the skull of the colossus before dying on the ground. Lady Mormont is no more, just like her relative Jorah.
He promised to serve until the end. Descended from his faithful dragon, Dany did not lead off until his faithful servant, Jorah, came to defend her. The foolish lover fights to protect his queen and will die as a hero. If the scene upsets us, it appears as an acceptable end for the character. He said he was ready to die for her.

Dracarys

The young Targaryen and her nephew find themselves facing the King of the Night on their respective dragons. In heaven, the three protagonists fight a merciless battle. The fire does not seem to burn Viserion inflicting heavy wounds on his brothers. The zombie dragon is not right for Drogon and Rhaegal who manage to come out alive from the clash. Fallen from his faithful steed, the King of the Night is at the mercy of Daenerys. We hold our breath when the dragon's mother launches her emblematic "Dracarys! " Without success, the king of the night unscathed from the fire and therefore the clash.

Valar Morghulis

Exit the Jon Snow, Jorah Mormont or Jaime Lannister, the one who eliminates the King of the Night is none other than Arya. From an adventurous little girl, to a bloodthirsty killer, the young woman has revealed herself during the seasons and she is the one who delivers the fatal blow. His training with the faceless will not be in vain, since the young Stark succeed where everyone had failed. The scene makes us jump as it is unexpected. His scream of rage before attacking the King of the Night, marks the memories and the following finished to complete us. Bran, omniscient, had seen him coming since it was he who had offered his sister the dagger that would change the face of the world. As unpredictable as it is enjoyable, the death of the King of the Night sounds like a sweet conclusion to the war against the dead. More episodes pass,

The war for 7 kingdoms resumes

At the time of making the accounts, Daenerys lost a lot in the battle of Winterfell. While Cersei has 20,000 more men in his ranks, Dany's troops have been severely weakened by this northern war. Victorious in the North, the Queen of Dragons could suffer a defeat at Port-Real and the loss of her long-time ally, Jorah Mormont, is a blow for Queen Targaryen. More alone than ever, she will have to find her place between a new heir to the crown and a Queen Cersei more determined than ever to eliminate it.
What about the alliance between Jon and Daenerys? Too busy fighting the army of the dead, the two characters have not made things clear. The main issue of the next episode will certainly be Dany's reaction to Jon and the truth about his affiliation. If the war against the dead ended as a new day rises on Winterfell, the game is far from won. Will the two lovers fight for the throne? The cards are redistributed, remains to know who will win the bet. In an hour and twenty-two minutes of battle, the episode puts an end to an intrigue of eight seasons. If the confrontation does not disappoint in its construction, it seems that everything happens too fast. The Battle of Winterfell seems anecdotal to what awaits our protagonists in Port-real. Cersei gets ready and the dice are stacked. For the throne, some will pay the price of blood
